Making the decision to sell your practice is a weighty one. You need to consider your growth goals as well as support needs.
MB2 Dental shared an insightful article about what to consider if you want a successful integration into a DSO. Definitely give it a read.
I appreciated their list, but thought it was missing something critical- conflict management resources. There will be bumps and bruises along the way in the transaction. You want your associate docs and dental team to feel excited about the new opportunity, not fearful of what comes next. Here are a question or two to ask during the process>
Does the DSO have an Ombuds, that's a conflict management expert, on the team to help you manage?
Having access to an Ombuds helps you, the dentist owner. to thoughtfully address a big challenge: telling the team. The Ombuds is your thinking partner to talk through issues and develop a communication plan and messaging.
The Ombuds is also a safety net for the team. People have a lot of fear and questions when in transition and crave a confidential, informal space to ask without fear of consequences.
If the DSO you are considering doesn't offer this resource, no worries. You can hire an outsourced Ombuds, like me, to guide you through. Happy to answer any of your questions when you schedule a free call.
